“Life isn’t about what you have; it’s about what you have to give”
~Oprah
Oprah has always believed that what we put out is always coming back to us, no exception. That belief is in alignment with the 3rd Law of Motion in physics: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Marinate on that for a while…..Do you get it? Knowing and believing the 3rd law should cause you to be more conscious with how you treat others, the thoughts that you have and the things that you say and do. Oprah continues to say: “Finally recognize that no one is responsible for your life but you. That you’re creating you current and future reality thought by thought. And that what you give your attention to only gets bigger and manifest itself in the world. So try to live a world focus on what’s good and what you’re grateful for, in order to have more goodness.” As Thanksgiving is approaching, we all have an attitude and mindset of giving and being grateful. We should have that feeling all year round but I know it’s easier said than done.
Here’s an idea….Start a gratitude journal and everyday write down something, it could be the smallest thing that you are grateful for. Take it up a notch and don’t duplicate anything that you’ve already written. This will help you focus on the good and that’s what you will attract into your life experiences.
Although you are in control of your life, you’re not in control of everything. Here’s why according to Oprah: Other people are working out their own energies, and sometimes those energies are destructive. Despite the fact that other peoples destructive energy can affect you, you still get to choose who you want to be and how you respond.
“Every day the path to your own spirituality starts with clarifying who you are and what you want. Not just things – things are easy. I mean the stuff that really matters. Life isn’t just about what you have; it’s about what you have to give. What kind of person do you want to be?”
Oprah encourages you to…
Start asking these questions and thinking about the bigger picture :
- why you’re here
- why the world needs what you have to offer
