Weekend Journaling

January 13, 2012 by admin / Tags: , , , , , , , / 3 Comments

Life teaches through experiences, whether we recognize these lessons or not. When we reflect on our lives, we make sense of our experiences, and internalize what we learn.
If it’s challenging to journal everyday, try it on the weekends. Take some time this weekend and reflect on how your week went. Start from Sunday and think about the plans you made, appointments scheduled, conversations you had, events you attended and more.     Journaling prompts:
  • What was the best thing that I experienced this week?
  • Did my plans work out? If not why?
  • Was I being my trueself this week?
  • What would I change about this week?
  • Was I present with my conversations?
  • What did I do that was fun?
  • What challenges did I have?
  • What would you say you did that deserve Kudos?
  • Did you return that phone call?
  • Did you work on that project?
  • Did you give yourself some “Me Time”
  • Where you aware of your emotional state?
These questions are going to trigger your memory, feel free to add anything else that will give you insight on how your week turned out. After reflecting on what happened, you can then plan for next week and work on the things you know you can do better at and repeat the things that made you feel good.   It’s pretty simple, give it a try. For journaling to be the most effective, write for 15 minutes or longer.   Be Blissful!

    Monique,
I simply love this approach for those who don’t journaling on a daily basis. But the prompts you provide are fabulous anytime! I love the multi-dimensional elements that are presented to journal about in this prompt list. I especially love the ones for “me” time and for fun. We can all use a lot more where that came from, can’t we? Refreshment is always at the top of my list.

I have chosen your post, Weekly Journaling, for the #JournalChat Pick of the Day on 1/13/12 for all things journaling on Twitter.
I will post a link on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, my blog and website Refresh with Dawn Herring, and in Refresh Journal, my weekly e-journal: http://www.refreshwithdawnherring.blogspot.com/.

It was great to have you on #JournalChat Live this week! Our next edition is on Thursday, 1/19/12 at 5 EST/2 PST on Twitter.

Thanks again for such a fabulous weekly focus; I love the summarizing and multi-dimensional approach.

    Be refreshed,

      Hi Dawn

Thank you! I appreciate being chosen for your #journalChat Pick of the Day :-)

Our lives are multi-dimentional at times, so I wanted to use the prompts to capture different aspects of life that we may all deal with. That’s great that you take time to refresh, I do the same. Most of us don’t and I want to encourage that more.

I’m glad I made it too. I’m usually away from the computer at that time and I wasn’t this Thursday, so I joined.

      Be Blissful!
